The EndSARS hashtag has again topped Nigeria’s Twitter Trends as reports suggest the resumption of protests in parts of Lagos with demonstrators mainly older women and some youths marched by Tejuosho Road in the Yaba area of the city.
The last time the #EndSARS was the number one trend on Twitter, the country witnessed a tremendous expression of outrage from Nigerians who had called for an end to police brutality and bad governance.
Many Nigerians on Friday had taken to Twitter and vowed to storm the streets, in what they termed a “second wave of protests.”
Nigerian Disc Jockey popularly called DJSwitch tweeted: “Presidency Expresses Shock as Police Move to Stop #EndSARS Judicial Inquiries.
Does this mean the Police Act on their own Will? Who gives Order in Nigeria? Who is the President?”
Some of the tweets on the #EndSARS trend read:
You can fool some people sometimes, you can’t fool all the people all the time. Now, old people have joined the movement. Sanwo-olu should test the army to oil their guns to kill all Lagosians.
Don’t say anything, just RETWEET aggressively. We ain’t giving up now.
BREAKING NEWS!!!! WE ARE BACK AND THIS TIME WE GO HARD OR GO HARD! #EndSARS
